Satyarup Siddhanta, a 38-year-old Indian mountaineer from Bangalore, has set an incredible world record. Satyarup is the world’s youngest mountaineer and the first Indian to summit both the Seven Summits and the Volcanic Seven Summits.

Satyarup was born in Kolkata and grew up in a small town, Berhampore, West Bengal. He attended Mary Immaculate School in Berhampore and graduated from Gurudas Tarasundari Institution in Berhampore with a Higher Secondary diploma. He graduated from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology with a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. He has worked as a software programmer and has been a member of the Bangalore Mountaineering Club.

He couldn’t even run 100 meters without using an inhaler because he had asthmSATYARUP SIDDHANTAa since he was a child. But his desire to achieve greatness never wavered; he conditioned and trained for seven years before being able to go on his first trek without an inhaler in 2008. Satyarup, a licensed climber from Darjeeling’s Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, skied the final degree to the South Pole, a distance of 111 kilometers.

Satyarup was the first Indian to complete the Volcanic Seven Summits, climbing Mt Sidley, Antarctica’s highest volcano, Mt Giluwe, Papua New Guinea’s highest volcano, and Mt Wilhelm, Papua New Guinea’s highest peak.

He has received numerous awards for his unending achievements, including the highest state award in the field of mountaineering, the Radhanath Sikdar Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award from the State Youth Services Department, Govt of West Bengal, and the State Youth Services Department’s Excellence in Mountaineering Award.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal also presented him with a special award for mountaineering. At the Bangalore Youth Festival, Satyarup received the Youth Award. Because of his prominence, IIT Kanpur invited him to participate in their prestigious Scholars in Residence Program. At the summit, he held aloft the WBCPCR placard, dedicating his Kilimanjaro ascent to the cause of child protection. In the middle of harsh weather circumstances in Antarctica, he played the Indian National Anthem on the flute. After successfully climbing Mount Everest, he was honored by the Governor of West Bengal as well.

He has given motivational presentations at ASEAN, SAHA Institute of Nuclear Physics, IISc, Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IISWBM, IEI, TEDX, and companies such as Cognizant, Sasken, HSBC, Bandhan Bank, IET, Altimetrik, Pinnacle, IMRB, Trivium, Element14, Aditya Birla Capital, Students of Indian Museum, and others.

He has become a role model for young people, an icon who has conquered his fears in order to pursue his dreams.
